Rainbow Six Extraction finally has a release date
Based on a popular limited-time edition game mode for 2015’s Rainbow Six Siege, Ubisoft first announced Extraction at E3 2019. The game was first marketed as Rainbow Six Quarantine. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ubisoft had to rename it to Rainbow Extraction. The upcoming title’s new name was first announced earlier this year. At the time, the expectation was that the game would arrive sometime this 2021. However, just a few weeks later after it was showcased at E3 2021, Ubisoft announced that Extraction would release in 2022 instead. Since then, fans have waited for Ubisoft to give Extraction a proper release date. In October, there was an updated blog post that appeared to tease that Extraction would release in January 2022. Fast forward to today and Ubisoft has confirmed that Extraction will indeed release on January 20, 2022. According to Ubisoft, the Siege spin-off will retail for $39.99 with a deluxe version available for $49.99. In addition to this, Ubisoft also confirmed that each copy of Extraction will come with two Buddy Pass tokens. Buyers can give each token away to other players so that they can try out Extraction for two weeks. Considering that Extraction will have cross-play, cross-save, and cross-progression on pretty much all modern consoles outside of the Nintendo Switch, the Buddy Pass tokens are a nice bonus. In other Ubisoft news, the international video game developer and publisher just revealed that it plans on making blockchain games sometime in the future. Ubisoft also confirmed that the next big Division 2 update will arrive in 2022. Meanwhile, the studio postponed the Ghost Recon Frontline beta indefinitely just as it was about to start.
