As the young Padawan learner, Cal Kestis, players had to navigate a tumultuous point in the Star Wars timeline. It was around this time when Darth Vader and the rest of the Inquisition were busy making sure that Jedis were no more. The game’s story culminated in a showdown with none other than Darth Vader himself, and ended with Cal barely escaping the clutches of Vader as he successfully destroys the Jedi Holocron, which is a databank containing information about everyone who is sensitive to the Force. With such an open-ended conclusion and a game that sold well, with critics ranking it as one of the best Star Wars games of all time, Respawn left the door open for a sequel. Now, it appears EA has confirmed that the sequel is coming.

When will Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 release?

At the moment, all eyes are on EA and DICE with Battlefield 2042 expected to release later this year. However, while EA has been busy working on the latest installment of its AAA shooter franchise, the studio that worked on Fallen Order has not been shy of teasing that it’s also working on a Fallen Order sequel. Charlie Houser, Brand Strategy Director at Respawn Entertainment, revealed in an interview that the studio would love to work on more games that are set in the Star Wars universe. Meanwhile, there was this tweet earlier in the year from Blair Brown, a Senior Producer at Respawn Entertainment. It details how Respawn is looking for people to help them make a new Star Wars game. Perhaps the strongest evidence of a new Fallen Order game comes from Andrew Wilson though. EA’s CEO revealed in the company’s most recent earnings call that EA is “continuing to invest” in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, as well as its other franchises. TLDR; the developers want to make another Star Wars Jedi game and the publishers want to keep on investing in the franchise. So, it’s only natural for us to wonder, when will Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 arrive? Unfortunately, that’s not something that we can say for sure just yet. Respawn Entertainment is currently busy working on Apex Legends, so we highly doubt that it’s going to come soon. Even if the earlier reports of Respawn having a dedicated team to work on the next Star Wars Jedi game are true, the COVID-19 pandemic makes it difficult for studios to work on new games, let alone fast-track their development. With that said, we shouldn’t expect Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 to release anytime soon.
