House of the Dragon is the first spin-off series from Game of Thrones. It is a prequel based on George R.R. Martin’s book Fire and Blood, which is set at least two centuries before the events of the books Game of Thrones is based on, A Song of Ice and Fire. House of the Dragon was first announced two years ago with filming beginning early this year. Now, we finally have the first real footage of House of the Dragon.
What did the first House of the Dragon trailer reveal?
Unfortunately, the first House of the Dragon trailer did not reveal much. At least, outside of the show’s ensemble cast. House of the Dragon’s star-studded cast includes the likes of Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Sonoya Mizuno, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, and Olivia Cooke, among others. To no one’s surprise, the first teaser for House of the Dragon includes references to sword fighting, politics, family drama, and, of course, dragons. It will be interesting to see if the teaser trailer is enough to get the disheartened fans back on the Game of Thrones bandwagon. As we’ve already mentioned, HBO’s Game of Thrones ended things on a sour note. Fans were outraged to the point of silence with how the final few seasons felt so rushed. Case in point, the seventh and eighth seasons of Game of Thrones consisted only of 7 and 6 episodes each, respectively. What’s even worse is that House of the Dragon will revolve specifically around the one character that many criticized was handled poorly by the showrunners in the final season. With that said, all audiences can do right now is to wait and see if House of the Dragon can redeem Game of Thrones. We don’t know exactly just how long this waiting is going to last. HBO has only given House of the Dragon a 2022 premiere date while confirming that it’s going to be on HBO Max.
