Heart of Stone is a Mission: Impossible-esque spy action thriller that Netflix ultimately won the rights to following a competitive bidding war against other studios. While the Netflix spy movie doesn’t have a release date yet, it appears that filming has already started.
— Gal Gadot (@GalGadot) March 7, 2022 The Wonder Woman star went on Twitter to upload a photo of herself behind the scenes while on the set of Heart of Stone. The actress added that she will take on the role of Rachel Stone in the Tom Harper film with Greg Rucka and Allison Schroeder writing the script. In addition to starring in Heart of Stone, Gadot is also one of the film’s producers. Unfortunately, Gadot stopped short of revealing details about Heart of Stone. But, we can safely assume that it will be a female-led version of popular spy franchises such as Mission: Impossible. 50 Shades of Grey’s Jamie Dornan will be joining Gadot along with Bollywood superstar, Alia Bhatt, among others. For several years, Netflix was the king of streaming platforms. Despite holding a majority share of the international market, Netflix has seen its numbers dwindle in the past two years. Disney+, in particular, has become a popular alternative to Netflix as it continues to threaten its share in major markets like the United States by reacquiring popular shows like Daredevil as well as undercutting Netflix’s subscription price by a significant amount. While Netflix continues to see significant success with shows like Squid Game and Don’t Look Up, the popular streaming platform will need more star-studded films to maintain its numbers in light of the recent price increase. The addition of Heart of Stone along with the likes of Hustle should give users more reasons to continue subscribing to Netflix.
