The multiplayer mode was announced long before the release of the game, but CDPR haven’t divulged many details about what to expect. It will be available at no additional cost to owners of Cyberpunk 2077, and is projected to launch sometime in 2022. Leading up to the release of the Multiplayer mode, the developers will launch several single player DLCs and expansions. According to the original release schedule Cyberpunk 2077 should have already started getting DLCs by now, but the controversy surrounding bugs and performance issues forced CD Projekt Red to delay all content and focus on patches. With DLC delayed, we assume the Multiplayer release has also been pushed back somewhat, though since we never knew anything more specific than a year, it likely won’t be perceivable to the fans. In terms of game modes and features, we have even less official info to go on. The developers haven’t revealed anything about it beyond the fact that it exists, we don’t yet have any screenshots or trailers, nor have members of the press been given behind-closed-doors demos - likely because it’s nowhere near ready for it. Luckily, data miners have recently uncovered a bunch of information regarding the multiplayer mode that’s already baked into the game. The best thing about this particular “leak” is that all the code is in the official game executable, so anyone can check it out and verify. We can expect a traditional deathmatch mode as well as a co-op ‘heist’ mode which will involve longer sessions and more complex tasks. These heists will be structured in a similar way as certain story missions from the single player portion of the game. There will also be various character classes to pick from, making customization a little more restricted than it was with V. Since the developers have yet to get around to revealing any of the DLC Cyberpunk 2077 is getting, we’re likely a long way from any more official info on the topic of multiplayer. However, if the patches that are being released to fix bugs keep adding to the underlying framework that Multiplayer will utilize as the developers continue working on it, chances are more data mining will reveal additional information in the coming weeks and months.
