Grace shared the good news on her Instagram where she confirmed that DC’s Batgirl is in its last week of shooting. As she shared an emotional message about her time spent with the rest of the cast and crew, Grace couldn’t help but thank Scotland for welcoming the Batgirl team. Of course, finishing principal photography and shooting doesn’t mean that Batgirl will arrive soon. The next stage in the production process will likely involve reshoots as well as weeks if not months on the cutting room floor to do Barbara Gordon’s arrival in the DCEU justice. The good news here is that if filming wraps up soon, directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will have more than half a year to complete work on Batgirl.

— Batgirl Film News 🦇 (@BatgirlFilm) March 27, 2022 Unfortunately, with so long separating now and Batgirl’s rumored December HBO Max premiere, Warner Bros. likely won’t be dropping any new trailer for Batgirl until at least after Black Adam arrives in theaters on October 21. What’s particularly interesting about Grace’s Barbara Gordon and titular heroine is that she’ll work together with Michael Keaton’s Bruce Wayne from 1989 as she squares off against Firefly, who will be played by Brendan Fraser. We supposed that this was the only logical step that Batgirl could take after Ben Affleck hung up the cowl and left the DCEU. However, this does leave a couple of questions, specifically, is Keaton now the DCEU’s Batman? Or is Warner Bros. leaning towards a multiversal reboot of sorts, one that Ezra Miller denied would be the plot of his upcoming solo feature film. Ultimately, fans have no choice but to wait for Batgirl to hit HBO Max to find out the answer to these questions. Regardless of which universe Batgirl takes place in, DC fans will want to celebrate 2022 as one of the biggest years yet for the Warner Bros. comic book adaptations. In addition to Black Adam and Batgirl, audiences can also look forward to Shazam!: Fury of the Gods on December 16, 2022, which may or may not feature a cameo of Gal Gadot’s Wonderwoman. Had it not been for the delay, The Flash, as well as Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, would have been released this year as well.
